Sanguisugabogg - Homicidal Ecstasy (02/03/23)

Honestly, it doesn't even matter if you can pronounce or spell the band's name correctly. This is a brutal masterpiece. Yes, I am biased because the band hails from my home state of Ohio. Yes, I am biased because I think the band's name is awesome. Does any of that take away from the sheer filth and disgustingness of this album? No.

This band has found high praise from the beginning and in my opinion, have just gotten better. Previous efforts seemed a little gimmicky or kind of jokey which was part of the reason why so many liked them. With the release of Homicidal Ecstasy, Columbus Ohio's "gore-merchants" step up the game in all aspects. Masterfully mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire, etc.), Sanguisugabogg keeps with the filth, the grime and the nastiness of 2021's Tortured Whole album, but moves things in a little more serious direction. They manage this well without losing the original charm the band was able to produce on their last album.
